Update: There are signs of massive improvements especially on my armpits. The wounds hardly burn now, but they are still itchy during initial stages of sleep. The intensity of the itch is so much lesser compared to when I used dermovate on my armpits 1 month ago. Quality of life wise, it is so much better! It is nice to know that without using topical steroids, your skin do heal over time!
It is so easy to say this now because I’m feeling better at “this” moment. The way to feel “better” comes with repeated cycles of itch-scratch-openwounds-ooze-dry-flake-peel-babyskin-feelgood. It is deeply frustrating and demoralising during the pain phase, but alot of relief when you see that the skin is healing well.
Other rashes seemed to have appeared and gotten worse, especially down on my legs, calves. They are breaking and oozing more often. Sometimes I’m delighted to see them breaking and oozing, as it is pure confirmation that it is the diseased atrophied skin that is breaking away and healing itself.
It is also 1 month from not using moisturizers. 1 month ago, I had to carry my moisturizers everywhere and used them extensively. Now, I realise I can live without it and my QOL (quality of life) is so much better compared to prior to high moisturizer use. The breaking wounds dry up faster and don’t break that much. Some skin doctors from Japan advocated moisturizers withdrawal for certain reasons that would help with the healing. I believe so as I feel my skin is way more tough and resistant to breaks.
I’m have still a long way to go. As said, I just fear the unknowns of what future months will bring. I’ll take any small victories everyday and tough out the bad days!
Hang in there fellow skin sufferers. We are all healing from inside out!
